Should the same panel return for the 2023 season, the Voice Australia coaches are said to have banded together to demand equal remuneration from Channel Seven of “in excess of $1 million each.”
Guy Sebastian, according to Woman’s Day, launched the union of coaches after determining that the present salary discrepancy is ‘unfair.’
Sebastian, 40, Keith Urban, 54, and Rita Ora, 31, are reportedly pushing on behalf of Jessica Mauboy, 32, who is rumoured to be earning the ‘lowest’ amount.
‘All four coaches are currently on very different pay terms and all of them, particularly Guy, think it’s unfair and unsustainable,’ an insider told the magazine.
‘After being on the series for some time, he knows it survives on the dynamic and chemistry of the coaches. He’s quietly confident their demands will be met.’
The group is reportedly requesting $1 million each after being inspired by the ensemble of Friends, who banded together in 2002 to ensure that they were paid equally for the show’s last two seasons.
Mauboy’s colleagues coaches are alleged to believe she ‘deserves more’ because she is rumoured to be paid the least.
