The sister of an Adelaide man who was arrested for stealing a vehicle with a baby inside has pointed the finger at the baby’s mother for leaving him alone in the car.
Last Monday, Erika was purchasing home supplies when Ilias Latsis, drove off with her car and her infant boy, Jordan, who was four months old at the time.
Carter can be seen coming out of the store and begging Latsis to stop as he is seen reversing out of the parking lot in the security footage that was acquired exclusively by 7NEWS.
The car was discovered abandoned in Enfield some three hours later, with the infant still inside.
The youngster was found to be healthy and unharmed after a frantic search by the cops.
Athina Latsis, the sister of Latsis, gave an interview to 7NEWS in which she criticised Carter for abandoning her child in the backseat of the car.
“(My brother) has the kindest heart in the world,” she told 7NEWS, “and if that mother had done the right thing and taken her child out… we would not be in this position today.”
“It would not be an abduction or kidnapping if this mother did not leave the child in the car. My brother was going to steal a car and that was it.”
Latsis pleaded guilty to abduction and theft charges.
He expressed his regrets to Carter.
