During a gunfight with authorities on Thursday at a manufacturing company in Maryland, three persons were murdered, and the male suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting was injured, according to the officials.
At around 2:30 in the afternoon, deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Columbia Machine facility located in Smithsburg in response to allegations of an ongoing shooting incident.
According to the statement sent by the sheriff’s office, “Units promptly arrived and identified four casualties, three of whom were deceased at the scene and one who was gravely injured.”
The defendant managed to elude capture before the authorities arrived, but they were able to locate him thanks to the Maryland State Police.

According to the authorities, a shootout erupted, during which both the suspect and the officer sustained injuries.
Both were taken to the hospital to receive necessary medical care.
According to the information provided on its website, the Columbia Machine plant is in the business of manufacturing moulds and production equipment.
At approximately 15:50 in the local time zone, a lockdown was initiated at a nearby hospital.
In a social media post, the hospital said, “Meritus Medical Center is on lockdown as of 3:50 p.m., Thursday due to a community emergency. That means no patients, visitors or staff may leave at this time, and we are only allowing patients experiencing a medical emergency”.
