A toddle has died after being reported missing at Maryborough on the Fraser Coast.
Source told 7NEWS.com, that during the frantic search for the boy, who was thought to be approximately 18 months old, his screams could be heard.
She said that she went to the location in order to assist in the search for the youngster after reading a post on a community Facebook group that begged for information on his whereabouts.
According to her, members of the police force and other community people were also searching.
“I was up the hill a bit when I heard the screams from the mother,” the witness said.
‘Heartbreaking scream’ “It was a heartbreaking scream.
I knew straight away, when she screamed, that it was bad.
When I got there, they literally pulled him out and started the CPR.”
She stated that family members who had been there at a gathering that had been held in the park had discovered the child in the water.
Witness said when they pulled the lifeless body from the lagoon, he was “blue.”
The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police will compile a report for the medical examiner to review.
