A third candidacy for the White House by former President Donald Trump has been hinted at for some time, and some Republicans, including those who have opposed another run by Trump, believe that announcement may happen sooner rather than later as GOP voters consider their top choice for a 2024 candidate.
Although many Republicans are opposed to the idea, numerous Republican strategists believe that Trump is ready to declare his candidacy for the presidency, according to reports.
Most candidates usually make the announcment around a year before the election.
Republican strategist Scott Jennings stated that he thought Trump’s declaration might occur before more Republican voters start to examine other contenders.
To increase their chances of taking back the White House in the upcoming presidential election, several Republicans have indicated that it is time to stop supporting Trump.
“There’s some evidence that some Republican voters are trying to slow-walk from Donald Trump,” Jennings said in an interview for Times.
“If you’re in his shoes, you have to try to put that fire out. Because the more it burns.”
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told The Associated Press that Americans are “worried” about whether Trump could win an election in 2024 in the aftermath of recent hearings on the January 6 Capitol protests.
“People want to make sure that we don’t nominate someone who would be substantially flawed because they are worried that we would lose the election in 24.”
