Richard Wilkins has said that he “didn’t flinch” when he saw his son Christian wearing a backless dress at the Logies while on the red carpet.
Taking stance on social media, the 68-year-old TV host defended his son after he received online trolls for his Logie Award fashion style.
On Sunday, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential, he said he respects his son’s “bravery and style.”
Richard claimed that his son’s choice of outfits is merely an expression of enjoyment.
‘I don’t understand that (parents not being in their son’s corner), but I certainly am. I didn’t flinch when I saw Christian in that dress. I didn’t think much of it,’ he told the publication of Christian’s Logie Award dress.
He acknowledged that there have been “strange times throughout the years” when Christian has descended the stairs wearing clothing that he felt was a little dubious.
Richard continued by complimenting his son’s flamboyant sense of style for “shaking things up.”
‘I admire his bravery. He has great style. He is fashion forward. I am boring in my black suit, black shoes and a bow-tie. I’m not really shaking things up, am I?’ he said.
Richard took to Instagram last month to clap back at the haters who called his 26-year-old son Christian a “disappointment to the family.”
‘So… to anyone who dares to suggest that I am in any way “ashamed” of my son Christian.. for whatever reason… You are wrong!’ he raged.
