Police earlier warned Robert E. Crimo III should be regarded armed and dangerous and was hauled over by police on Monday evening after a brief pursuit. Earlier, Highland Park Investigators Chief Lou Jogmen claimed that police had identified Crimo as a person of interest.

Highland Park Police Commander Chris O’Neill, the incident commander on location, asked people to shelter in place as investigators looked for the attacker.
“It was a quiet, peaceful, lovely morning, people were enjoying the parade”.
“Within seconds, to have that peacefulness suddenly ripped apart, it’s scary. You can’t go anywhere, you can’t find peace. I think we are falling apart.” said Adrienne Drell, a former Sun-Times reporter.
Number of fired rounds forced hundreds of parade-goers — some visibly bloodied — fleeing.
Police are yet to release names and details about the wounded and killed people.
