The gender reveal celebration hosted by Nikki and Graham Scott began in the same manner as any other.
The couple, who are both from Ontario in Canada, marked the significant event by telling their extended family and friends the gender of their upcoming child.
But their child was already eight years old when she told them she no longer wanted to live as a boy, so they threw a party for their daughter instead of a baby shower for a child who had not yet been born.
When Ella Scott was just six years old, she confided in her parents that she had never had the experience of identifying as male on the inside.
Nikki, 38, and Graham, 39, initially believed that their then-son may have been going through a phase; but, it didn’t take long for them to realise that their daughter was determined to start her own trans journey.
Now, Ella’s parents and her two younger brothers, Teddy, who is six years old, and Regan, who is five years old, have decided to show their support for Ella by throwing a gender reveal party so that they may inform their extended family about her journey.
Nikki said “With Ella it’s like she always knew but we just didn’t.
“We always knew she was a little different, when she was little as she was always friends with girls and played with Frozen toys.
“I have two other children, Ella’s brothers, two cisgender boys who play rough but Ella never wanted to join in. At age six she wanted to start wearing girls clothes like skirts and dresses.
