According to disturbing footage, a significant altercation between members of competing families was captured on camera at a Woolworths in the central business district of Darwin.
In the video on Facebook, a large piece of glass is shattered at one point, and a man can be seen running toward other people while carrying a knife.
When the raucous gang first entered the shopping centre, an individual hopped the counter of a modest diner that was located just across from the supermarket.
After that, it appeared as though he emerged from holding a large knife.
The uproar continued inside of Woolworths’ self-service checkout section, where it was followed by the production of loud beeping noises that swept throughout the store.
The video captured sounds of people yelling at each other, slamming on various objects, and breaking glass.
Outside the cafe, the ground was covered in a bright red liquid.
The “disturbance” that occurred at the supermarket on Tuesday afternoon was reportedly caused by a group of up to ten people, some of them were equipped with “edged weapons,” according to the police.
A person who is 16 years old who is arrested on the spot may face charges related to being armed in public, engaging in violent behaviour, possessing a Schedule 2 substance, or breaking the terms of their bail.
The authorities are looking into the other people engaged in the incident.
A witness named Claire Ross, who works at the pharmacy located in the centre of the town, stated that she saw one person armed with what appeared to be a machete-like weapon.
No injuries were reported by anyone who was there.
According to a spokesman from Woolworths, the investigation being conducted by the police is still ongoing.
