A small child was taken to the hospital after being mauled by two dogs in Melbourne’s southeast, and the attack left her severely injured.
Around eight in the morning, emergency services were called after receiving complaints that two other dogs had attacked a girl aged 12 and her dog on Bellevue Drive in Berwick.
Two different people reportedly owned the other dogs.
It is speculated that the assault took place at the Berwick Fields Primary School.
The child was rushed to Casey Hospital with minor injuries to both the upper and lower bodies, and their status is currently stable.
The girl’s father, Mick Garratt, stated on the social networking site Facebook that an off-duty paramedic had stopped to help until an ambulance arrived.
He said on one of his social media accounts, “I owe you a beer.”
An update on the girl’s condition was posted on Facebook, stating that she underwent surgery for her injuries yesterday.
According to the owner, a random person passing by drove Garratt’s dog to the doctor, where it had a treatment that saved its life that took six hours.
