A man from Queensland told how he discovered a sparkling diamond worth one hundred thousand dollars stuck among coral reef while swimming off the back of a cruise ship.
While diving a decade ago, Stuart, who is from Bundaberg, said that he was the one who found the extraordinary treasure miles away from civilization.
Honest Stuart offered to return the exquisite jewel for free to anybody on board the cruise liner had misplaced it and could provide an exact description of its appearance.
However, given that no one claimed it, he kept it for himself, and ever since then, he has kept the priceless stone hidden away in a safe place.
While snorkelling in a reef, Stuart told the presenters of the Queensland programme Triple M Rush Hour, Annabelle Brett and Elliot Lovejoy, about his amazing discovery.
Stuart stated that even though there were still ten days left of the cruise, he would have been pleased to hand up the diamond to whoever owned it.
“If it was theirs, it was theirs,” he added. “If it was mine, it was mine.”
In the end, Stuart was the one who was able to keep possession of the precious stone.
He explained, “Since no one came and asked for it, I decided to keep it, and I’ve been using it ever since,”
“We had it appraised at $100,000,” he said.
