Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O. Henderson were kicked off the broadcast without any warning or explanation on Wednesday morning after an expletive-laced rant created a technical malfunction.
Around 9:30 in the morning, the two hosts conducted an interview with comedian and actor Jim Jefferies, and during that time, listeners were treated to seven seconds of a hold tone consisting of a single note.
The duo was later reintroduced to the program via a pre-recorded voiceover.
“I’m sorry to inform you that the station you’ve been listening to has been taken off the air.
This indicates that someone inappropriately spoke their mind and is currently facing consequences for their actions.
In a few moments, we will resume the broadcast.”
Jackie O disclosed to listeners that her co-host, Kyle, had cursed on the way back to air. She explained to listeners that her co-host had commanded “harmonica boy [Jefferies] to ‘Fuck off,’ and then the bleep button got stuck.”
The button was stuck for seven seconds, which explains why the tone was so drawn out, even though the producers were trying to bleep out the curse word.
Jackie divulged the information that she and her co-host were obligated to keep performing the programme live and without interruption, despite the fact that it had returned to its regularly scheduled programming.
Sandilands has just started working again following the delivery of his first kid, a son named Otto, which he shared with his partner Tegan Kynaston, 35.
The radio personality was forced to end his show in the middle of broadcasting when he found out that his girlfriend had gone into labour while he was on the air.
Later, he gave listeners a graphic account of his son’s first moments out of the womb.
