Two women drowned as a result of a vehicle accident that occurred in the northern suburbs of Perth.
At approximately 6:40 a.m. on Sunday, onlookers made an attempt to rescue two ladies in their 20s who were trapped in the lake at Aveley.
“When I stopped, I could see that they had tried to smash the windows, but they could not get it open,” the witness Singh said to 7NEWS.
“I was the first one to spot them, and when I stopped, I could see that they had tried to destroy the glass.”
Singh, who was unable to swim, signalling for other drivers to come help the women since he was in trouble.
One of the witnesses pulled over as the water level rose and made an unsuccessful attempt to break the windows with a wrench while still sitting in the vehicle.
The suspect, driving a Toyota Corolla, is believed to have turned right onto Gnangara Road, then driven across the median strip and into the lake.
Collins claims that it is not obvious why the females drove off the road.
He stated that they were still in the preliminary stages of the investigation.
“We don’t have anything other than the belief that there wasn’t another car involved,” the spokesperson said.
