Following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, images of King Charles III’s fingertips have been making their way across various social media platforms.
And now, a doctor has weighed in on the situation, outlining what the King’s symptoms may signal about his health based on the bloated and often crimson appearance of those symptoms.
The question was posed by the user @Anaiishhh1, who was referring to King Charles III. “Have you ever seen Charles’ fingers?”
Others made fun of the King by posting photos of sausages alongside unflattering images of his bloated fingers on their social media accounts.
According to Dr Gareth Nye, a senior lecturer at the University of Chester in the United Kingdom, the swollen fingers that Charles is exhibiting could be the result of several different health problems.
He mentioned that some, like oedema, also known as fluid retention, were more likely than others but that there were many potential causes.
Arthritis was yet another potential cause for the symptoms.
The King is said to have made a lighthearted joke about the appearance of his fingers by referring to himself as having “sausage fingers” in a letter written to a friend shortly after the birth of Prince William.
