David Beckham waited for thirteen hours rather than cutting in front of the Elizabeth line to pay his respects to The Queen.
After receiving criticism for skipping the extended waiting period, the well-known figure decided to stand in line with the rest of the people.
Beckham, once of England and currently playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, was seen waiting in line at two in the morning while wearing a hat and an overcoat. He remained convinced that he should wait, citing the influence of his grandfather as the reason.
A source told the Daily Mail that “David could have skipped all of the waiting if he hadn’t wanted to be like everyone else.”
He claimed that his grandfather would not have skipped the line, therefore he wouldn’t do it either.
Beckham, who is 47 years old, was eventually granted permission to pay his respects to the Queen while she was laying in state on Friday, and it was said that he did so with tears in his eyes.
