In September, a mother said she was at work when her 17-month-old daughter fell and drowned in an unsupervised spa.
The incident happened at the family’s home in Gracemere, Queensland.
The girl, who was also known as Totty, was learning how to talk.
At the time of the incident, her mother, Tahlia Brown, was with her partner Cecil Murphy and their two other children.
The girl’s brother found her lifeless body and called the police. Totty was then taken to a local hospital. She was placed in a medically-induced coma and later died.
A friend of the family, Alyce Pocock, said that Tahlia blamed herself for her daughter’s death.
She believed that if she had not been at work, her daughter would not have been so vulnerable.
Alyce noted that the tragic incident occurred following a series of tragic events in her life, which started when her grandfather, father, and stepfather died when she was a child.
The police are investigating the matter.
