A girl was taken to hospital after she was allegedly attacked by a group of adults while she was riding a bus in Darwin. The incident occurred at around 6 pm on Sunday.
The victim, who is 12 years old, was riding on bus number 4 from Parap to Casuarina when she was assaulted.
According to the Northern Territory police, a woman approached the girl and assaulted her.
After exiting the bus at a shopping center, the victim was assaulted by a couple of adults and two others. They then fled the area.
Detective Andrew Kren of the Darwin police described the attack as a cowardly act.
Transit security personnel then came to the aid of the girl and took her to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
The girl suffered multiple lacerations on her body. The police have asked the public to help them identify the individuals involved in the attack.
