A suspected truck bomb destroyed a bridge connecting Crimea to Russia early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred on the span of the railway line that carries traffic over the bridge.
According to Russia’s anti-terrorism committee, a car bomb exploded on the bridge’s road side, causing fires that burned seven oil tankers.
Several hours after the incident, Russia’s Investigative Committee reported that three people died due to the fire and the explosion on the bridge.
It was believed that the victims were the passengers of a car that was near the truck that exploded.
Law enforcers in Ukraine claimed that the attack was carried out by their country’s special security service, the SBU.
However, they refused to comment on the claim. In videos that have been circulating online, it can be seen that the bridge was relatively unaffected by the initial explosion. Then, it started raining fire.
