The body of Emily Thompson, who was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend, was found in Nambour on Sunday.
Her former boyfriend, 19-year-old Aaron Daniel Huckel, has been charged with her murder and will appear in court on Monday.
The pair reportedly met at a car park in the suburb of Strathpine on Saturday afternoon.
Thompson failed to return home on Saturday afternoon. Her family contacted the police after she failed to return.
A few hours later, Huckel was found at a service station in Nambour.
According to Tracy Pelling, a spokesperson for the Thompson family, her relatives are trying to come to terms with how their lives will be without Emily.
According to her family, Emily was a loving and smart individual who was known for her family and friends. She was also a much-loved daughter, sister, niece, and cousin.
The students of her high school, Pine Rivers High School, were left stunned by her death.
In a statement, the school said that Emily was an enthusiastic and high achieving student who would be greatly missed by her teachers and friends.
Huckel’s case was mentioned in the local magistrates court on Monday. He was not in court and was later remanded in custody until a further hearing on October 31.
Detectives are currently examining the cars that were seen in the area on Saturday, namely a white Ford Mustang and a blue Mazda sedan.
They have also appealed for information from the public.
