After a long break from music, Cody Simpson came back to perform the Australian national anthem before the Melbourne Cup.
It was an unusual choice, as he had recently changed his name to become more of a professional athlete and focused on the 2024 Olympics.
He delivered an impressive rendition of the national anthem, which some considered to be one of the best renditions of the song.

Simpson became an international pop star when he was a teenager, touring with Justin Bieber and releasing various hits.
He was joined by the Melbourne Gospel Choir for his performance. He was able to do so by standing on a small stage near the track at the Melbourne Cup.
Fans praised him on social media, with one user calling him an absolute “bambi magnet.”
If he wasn’t able to perform Carols by Candlelight this year, the nation would be robbed.
In August, Simpson became a prominent figure in the swimming world after successfully transitioning from being a pop star to competing in the Commonwealth Games.
Before he competed in the event, he had also performed I Still Call Australia Home.
