Omar and his best friend Oz, who are from Sydney, won The Block 2022 after their house sold at auction for almost $6 million.
They were able to pocket a massive $1.66 million after taking home the $100,000 prize. Unfortunately, the day also had a lot of drama as other homes were passed in and sold for much smaller profits.
After winning the auction, the mood of the other participants changed completely. For instance, Sarah-Jane and Tom were given the opportunity to bid on the house, but their auction started to stall, resulting in a $20,000 profit. Also, Rachel and Ryan decided to pull their home out of the auction.
It was eventually sold to the highest bidder, and the couple was able to pocket a $169,000 profit. Meanwhile, Ankur and Sharon were forced to pull their home from the auction due to a last minute auction.
During the auction, the auctioneer almost let the house go under its reserve, which could have resulted in a small profit.
The house passed in to the private sale after almost being sold at a small profit. After winning the competition, the couple said they were very happy with their victory. T
hey noted that they had a clear plan throughout the whole process, and it was very frustrating to see the other teams come in and not achieve the results they wanted.
Omar added that it took them a while to sink in, but they were able to celebrate their win.
It was heartbreaking to see the other teams fail. The three houses that passed in were purchased by a philanthropist from Melbourne.
This was not the first time that The Block has failed to sell. In Seasons 3, 4, and 13, the homes were not able to sell. Host Scott Cam paid tribute to the Blockheads, who worked incredibly hard to deliver these houses.
According to Julian Cress, the executive producer of The Block, the real estate market is currently volatile. He noted that there have been several unexpected interest rate increases.
