A court heard that Rebecca Tollan, 23, died after she took cocaine on her first night out after she gave birth. She was found dead at her home.
Two men, Barry McAuley, 40 and Martin Stewart, 34, were charged with culpable homicide.
The two men are accused of recklessly and intentionally giving the drug to Rebecca on July 14 and 15 in 2019. They reportedly deny the allegations.
According to the MailOnline, Pamela, Rebecca’s sister-in-law, testified during the trial. She said that the women had gone out that night and ended up in the Railway Tavern’s beer garden.
After sending drinks to Stewart and McAuley, Rebecca and Pamela went to their table. According to the court, Rebecca asked the men if there was anything “stuff” in their drinks, and Barry then gave her a bag of “wee bags.”
She then took cocaine before the two men went back outside. During the trial, the court heard that Pamela had to visit the restroom.
Rebecca then went back to her home in Bellshill, where she took more of the drugs. According to Pamela, she saw four lines of cocaine in a plate, and when she went back to the bathroom, there was only one left.
When asked if she was worried about how much of the drug she was taking, Pamela said that Rebecca was her own person.
Rebecca refused to listen to what was said to her. Even though she was being told that she didn’t need it, she continued taking drugs.
After they called a taxi to get home, Rebecca started to “shake” and had blood coming from her mouth. Although paramedics tried to save her, she eventually died.
Rebecca’s first night out after giving birth was her first time out since she had stopped drinking alcohol during her pregnancy. It was also her first time out drinking since nine months.
