After five years as a co-host of The Project’s current affairs panel, Lisa Wilkinson announced on Sunday that she is leaving the program.
She said that she decided to leave due to the toxicity of the media. She also admitted that the last six months have been very difficult.

It has taken a toll on me, not just me, but on the people I love.
Although she acknowledges that she can sometimes get it wrong, she said that she has tried her best to make the most of her job.
She joined The Project in 2018 after she left Today, which was due to a disagreement with Nine management over Karl Stefanovic’s salary.
In her memoir, which was released in 2021, Wilkinson talked about her last day on the program. She also revealed her thoughts on her controversial speech during the Logie award ceremony in June.
She received the award for her coverage of the case of Brittany Higgins, who accused Bruce Lehrmann of sexual assault.
Due to the allegations, Wilkinson was warned not to speak about the case.
The trial was then delayed, with Lucy McCallum, the Chief Justice of Australia, stating that the publicity surrounding the case had prejudiced the right of the accused to a fair trial.
