Andrew O’Keefe, who used to be a television presenter, was arrested on Monday after he allegedly breached his bail conditions.
Officers from the NSW Police went to his home in Vaucluse in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. He was then taken to the nearby police station in nearby Waverley.
It was revealed that he tested positive for drugs, but his lawyer argued that the swab was contaminated. After he was granted bail, O’Keefe claimed that he is still clean. He was asked if he had taken drugs.
He then claimed that he was unable to provide the correct facts to his friends and family. He was asked how the drugs allegedly found in his system came from.
According to him, there was a high probability that the swab was contaminated. O’Keefe was first arrested in January after he was accused of assaulting a woman.
In February, O’Keefe pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge. He was released on bail and was required to stay in a rehabilitation center for six months.
One of the conditions of his bail was that he must check into a rehabilitation center for drug and alcohol abuse.
Conditions of his bail included not consuming drugs or alcohol that were not prescribed by a medical practitioner.
O’Keefe was a regular contributor to the Channel Seven television network for 17 years.
His contract with the company was not renewed in 2021.
He also became an ambassador for White Ribbon, which is a charity that fights against violence against women.
