A Woolworths store in the Hunter Region of NSW will remain closed following the death of a worker who was cleaning the facility.
Emergency services were called to the store in the town of Jesmond Central at around 7am on Friday after reports that a woman had been injured. However, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
The incident was immediately reported to the police, who then established a crime scene.
They noted that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
She was employed by a cleaning company that was contracted by the store.
A spokesperson for Woolworths said the company was deeply saddened by the incident.
It also worked with the NSW Police and SafeWork NSW to support the employee’s family.
The company noted that its priority was providing the support that the family needed.
