Sports presenter Katie Brown from Queensland will be joining the team of the Channel Seven morning show, Sunrise, in 2023.
She temporarily replaced Sam Mac in September after he took time off due to his paternity leave. According to reports, she has signed a two-year deal to become a roving reporter for the show.
She will be joined by hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr, as well as newsreaders Edwina Bartholomew and Mark Beretta.
In a statement, Katie said that she is thrilled to be joining the team of the popular morning show, and she is feeling like the “happiest girl in the world.”
She also thanked her fans for their support. The co-hosts of the show, David Koch and Natalie Barr, were quick to congratulate her. Newsreader Edwina Bartholomew gave her a “thumbs up” for her decision.
The announcement about Katie’s joining the team of the show comes just a month after Koch revealed his plans to retire from the show.
He said that he would be reducing his number of days on air in order to reduce his workload.
In October, it was revealed that he had agreed to a contact extension that will keep him with the show until 2024.
During his meeting with James Warburton, the CEO of the Seven Network, Koch said that he wanted to retire.
