A pregnant woman was left in a coma after she was hit in the head in a shopping center in Perth’s south.
Diane Miller, 30, was hit by a concrete object during the brawl that broke out in the Karawara shopping center’s parking lot at around 7 pm on Tuesday.
A fight erupted in the Karawara shopping center’s parking lot. During the scuffle, a man threw an object at another vehicle, which hit Miller in the head.
She was then taken to a hospital, where she is currently in an intensive care unit. Miller, who is five months pregnant, was with her infant son Lloyd at the time of the incident.
According to Malcolm Clifton, the brother of Miller, the incident has destroyed their lives. He said that their son will grow up without his mother.
The police described the incident as senseless and unprovoked. Inspector Baddock of the local police force said that the woman was a passenger in one of the cars that was involved in the fight.
The woman’s partner then joined the fight. Baddock said that they have concerns for the safety of Miller and her baby.
Miller is five months pregnant, and she is currently in a critical condition due to severe brain swelling.
A 17-year-old boy from the city of Kensington has been charged with the assault and is due to appear in court on Wednesday.
The police are still looking for witnesses who may have captured the incident on their dashcam or mobile video.
They are also asking anyone who has information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
