A teenager died and another person was injured after a car collided with pedestrians in Carlingford, northwest of Sydney, at around 11:20 a.m. on Thursday.
According to the NSW Police, the incident occurred at the back of a shopping center.
Paramedics attended the scene, but a 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead.
The teenager was reportedly a student at Carlingford Public High School, which is around 10 minutes away.
A 17-year-old boy was also injured and was taken to hospital.
The elderly driver of the car, who was not identified, had to be cut out of her vehicle after it hit a tree.
The driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The incident has been referred to the Crash Investigation Unit.
The police have also asked for witnesses to come forward and provide them with dashcam footage.
