Sydney’s professional athlete and devout Muslim, Sonny Bill Williams, has won his long-running battle to have a mosque built in Hurstville.
After months of hard work and sacrifice, the project was approved.
It took him several years to get this far, and he is very happy that it has finally happened.
When he was a young man, Williams was a Christian, but he eventually converted to Islam.
Being a Muslim has given him a new perspective on life, and he is always striving to be better.
Williams regularly gives back to the community at fundraising events for the mosque.
He and fellow professional athletes such as Anthony Mundine have contributed over a hundred thousand dollars to the project.
It has been a long time coming, and it is very satisfying to finally see the project come to fruition.
The site where the mosque will be built is currently a nursing home.
