Two police officers were shot and killed in Queensland on Saturday while they were searching for a missing NSW man.
Nathaniel Train, who was from the city of Dubbo and hadn’t been seen by his family in over a year, was reportedly one of the individuals involved in the incident.
It’s believed that the property at Wieambilla, which is located in Queensland’s Darling Downs, was owned by Train’s brother, and his wife, Stacey.
All three of them were shot and killed by the police after they allegedly murdered the officers. A neighbour who had been sent to investigate a disturbance on Monday afternoon also died.
The two officers were part of a group of four that visited the property. It’s not clear if they were aware that Train and his associates were dangerous when they entered the property.
Ian Leavers, the president of the Queensland Police Union, said that the three individuals who carried out the attack went on to kill the officers in cold blood.
The incident was described as a “pure execution,” with Leavers calling it an absolute tragedy. One of the officers was able to escape, but a female law enforcer had to retreat into the bush to avoid getting shot.
The three individuals who carried out the attack also lit a fire in an attempt to get the female officer to come out.
According to Leavers, the female law enforcer thought that she was going to die if she stood up. She also thought that she would be burnt alive.
Sixteen law enforcers responded to the incident and tried in vain to save the lives of their colleagues.
