Ten staff members at Roy Hill have reportedly received a $100,000 Christmas bonus from mining magnate Gina Rinehart.
According to a report on Monday, employees of Hancock Prospecting, which is the company that owns the mine, were in the running to win the cash prize.
The report came from a source who claimed that Rinehart had ordered all staff members to stay in place for an important announcement.
Rinehart reportedly told the employees that she would be announcing the names of the 10 individuals who would receive a $100,000 Christmas bonus.
An employee of the company confirmed the news on Tuesday by calling a radio station. According to the worker, one of the lucky individuals only worked for the company for three months.
In November, Rinehart was able to earn a total of $2.3 billion from her company, Roy Hill.
During the previous 12 months, the mine had generated a profit of $3.3 billion. This included a huge amount of tax and State royalties.
