Former AFL player and coach Dani Laidley has announced that she will be participating in the Australian Open’s “Glam Slam” in January 2019. She played for both West Coast and North Melbourne. The show features analysis and insight from some of the most prominent individuals in the sport.
The event, which is a celebrity tennis tournament for LGBTQ+ individuals, is sponsored by Ralph Lauren. It’s part of the Australian Open’s Pride celebrations. Various prominent athletes and sporting identities will be participating in the event. According to News Corp, Dani said she was “excited” to be a part of the event. She noted that playing at the Kia Arena in Sydney would be a privilege.
Although she’ll have to put in some practice hours to improve her skills, she’s excited about the opportunity to participate in the event. The Australian Open’s Pride Day was officially launched earlier this year. It was brought together by the organization to celebrate the achievements of the LGBTQ+ community. Craig Tiley, the CEO of Tennis Australia, noted that the event was the natural next step in the organization’s efforts to include the community.
It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the achievements of the LGBTQ+ community on a special day, and I’m sure that it will become a highly anticipated event at the Australian Open. Over a hundred players are expected to participate in the tournament. In addition, Dani will be participating in an interview with Nick McCarvel, a New York sports journalist.
