A young woman from Queensland was killed in a car crash while she was returning home from her grandmother’s funeral.
The passenger, 21-year-old Fliss Morton, died after the car she was in collided with a truck on the Bruce Highway at around 4 pm on Wednesday.
Morton died at the scene, and three other passengers in the car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The tragic incident occurred just a couple of minutes after a truck driver died after his vehicle left the Bruce Highway and crashed into a ditch.
According to Westside News, Morton was on her way back to Brisbane with her family following her grandmother’s funeral in the city of Rockhampton.
The young creative was described by her family as a “ray of sunshine” who had a “heart of gold.”
Her mother, Rosemary, said that her daughter brought happiness to wherever she went.
The local arts community and loved ones of Morton have paid tribute to the young theatre star, noting that she was a talented performer.
The police are also investigating the fatal accidents.
