A corpse was found under the floorboards of a home in the US last week, and it had been three months since the boy died.
According to court documents, the boy’s death was caused by a punishment he received after biting his mother’s boyfriend.
According to an arrest affidavit, Ashley Rolland told law enforcers that her son died on September 9, after an incident with Nathan Bridges, 33, which involved her boyfriend.
The boy was six years old when he died. However, court documents indicate that he was born on December 16, 2017. His body was found on his birthday, which would make him 5 years old.
The boy’s paternal grandmother, who was identified as Karen Rolland, said that the child would have turned 6 on December 16.
According to the affidavit, Ashley confessed that Bridges punished her daughter by holding her under water for punishment.
The affidavit also states that Bridges did not want to be interviewed. On Saturday, police arrested Rolland, as well as Bridges, after the body of the boy was discovered under the home’s hallway.
They were both charged with capital murder, battery, abuse of corpse, and tampering with evidence.
Rolland was additionally charged with two counts of permitting child abuse.
When deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they spoke with Ashley’s father, Timmy Childers. He said that his daughter told him that the boy was dead.
Upon entering the home, the authorities found a variety of objects under the floorboards, such as a flip-flop and a blue and red blanket, according to the affidavit.
After a search of the home, the authorities discovered a small human body that had been wrapped in several layers of plastic bags.
It was later revealed that the body had been concealed in the home’s attic.
