Hot cross buns have become an Easter staple in Australia, with many people wanting a doughy cinnamon or chocolate treat.
According to the company, it is expected that more than 2.5 million of these will be sold before the year ends.
According to Andy Mossop, the executive general manager of the company’s Fresh division, the demand for limited-edition hot cross buns has been strong in December.
The new variety, which is a fruity brioche, features sultanas, candied orange peel, and cranberries.

In other states, such as Queensland and NSW, the Easter buns are in high demand.
To meet the demand, Woolworths has released a variety of hot cross buns. Some of these include a sweet brioche and a white chocolate version.
Donald Keith, the company’s merchandise manager, noted that the first week of sales for the hot cross buns was over 1.8 million, and they are expected to continue selling well throughout the year.
Economist Stephen Koukoulas also suggested that people should buy these all year round to alleviate their anxiety.
He wondered why some people were so anxious about buying hot cross buns when retailers started to stock them.
