Two women have died after a tree crashed onto their car on the Sunshine Coast on the afternoon of Saturday.
According to police, the pair were on Old Gympie Rd. when the tree fell.
Firefighters were able to cut the pair out of their vehicle, but they were later pronounced dead.
The deaths of these two individuals bring the total number of road fatalities in Queensland this year to 298.
It’s the worst recorded figure since 2009, when there were over 300 fatalities.
Ten people were taken to the hospital after a car crash at Buderim.
Four other people were cut out of their vehicles following a six-car pileup on the Mooloolaba Road.
