A warning was issued after a car was stolen in Melbourne’s southeast with a child inside.
According to the Kingston police, the child’s parent parked outside a Chelsea shop on Sunday afternoon.
They left the car running and the air conditioning on while they went inside.
The child was reportedly sleeping inside the vehicle when the car was stolen.
After a few seconds, the police said, a thief got inside the car and started the engine.
He then drove away with the child inside. The child was later spotted wandering in a nearby road. T
he police noted that the thief released the child as soon as the car stopped.
The child was unharmed and was immediately returned to his parents.
The police noted that such an incident serves as a warning to parents about leaving their kids inside a vehicle.
