Many Australian tourists have shared their shock after seeing photos of a Bali beach that appeared to be littered with rubbish.
Posting on a group for travelers in Bali, Australian tourist Tracy Hull said that it was “disgusting” to see the beach, and that it was covered in plastic waste.
According to news.com.au, she was visiting Bali for the third time.
She said that the beach was covered in plastic waste, which she described as like “swimming in the tip.”
The post has since received a lot of attention, with some Australian tourists also stating that they noticed the beach was looking rather dirty.
Some people speculated that the beach was made worse by the tourists, with one individual stating that she walked on the beach almost every day and found it to be full of garbage and plastic waste.
Others said that the issue could be seen in other areas of Bali.
According to one tourist, the weather during the rainy season in Bali often brings about the accumulation of trash on the coastline.
This is because strong winds and heavy rain can cause debris to flow down rivers.
Indonesia has reportedly recorded over 68.5 million tons of waste in 2021.
