A man died while trying to save his daughter from the ocean at a beach on the NSW North Coast.
According to police, the child was reportedly swept out to sea while they were at Seven Mile Beach in the city of Lennox Head with their three children at around 6:30 pm.
The girl’s mother and father immediately jumped into the water to try and save her, but the 45-year-old man did not make it back to the shore.
His daughter and wife then called for help. However, two police officers were unable to find the man.
The lifesavers were able to retrieve his body from the water at around 7 pm.
His family was able to get home after paramedics treated them.
The police have since been informed about the man’s death and are working with the Irish consulate.
