A man and woman claiming to be sovereign citizens were apprehended in Coffs Harbour, NSW, after refusing to cooperate with police.
In a video showing the incident, the officers can be seen smashing the car’s window after the pair refused to provide them with their driver’s license and names.
The officer then threatened them with a window-breaking action if they didn’t cooperate.
The police noted that they were patrolling in the area when the incident occurred.
The registration of the car had already expired in July 2022, the NSW Police stated in a statement.
The officers then spoke with the woman inside the car, who was wanted on domestic violence-related charges.
She was then arrested and taken to the Coffs Harbour Police Station. She refused to submit to a breath test.
The woman was then charged with various charges. Some of these include using a motor vehicle without paying the required tax, driving while unlicensed, refusing to submit to a breath test, and refusing to provide the police with the necessary information.
