Mark Ciavarella, an Australian music teacher who was reported missing in 2022, was reportedly killed in Africa.
His family and friends had feared for his well-being. In a video confession, two men admitted to killing him.
In November, a video was posted online, in which the two men talked about how they poisoned Ciavarella’s drink and threw him into a crocodile-infested river. One of them is his flatmate, Beka Clement.
According to Clement, he feared that if Ciavarella went back to Australia, he would be left with nothing.
In the video, his friend says that after drinking the poison, the music teacher fell asleep and died.
The two men have been charged with murder and will appear in court in March.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade has been providing assistance to the family of Ciavarella.
His brother Darren said that the family was devastated by the news about his brother’s death.
He said that they would likely never see his body.
Darren added that the family was also distraught because the two men who killed him had reportedly fed him to crocodiles.
Mark was in a good place before he disappeared, and he was looking forward to returning home to Australia.
Darren said that they spoke to him just before he vanished.
