A dog that killed a four-year old girl in Milton Keynes belonged to her family. It was put down by the police after it attacked and killed Alice Stones. The incident happened in the girl’s back garden on Tuesday afternoon. The police were called to the scene after 5 pm.
According to the police, the dog was seized and destroyed by armed officers after it attacked and killed the girl. Her family is reportedly struggling to come to terms with her death. Hundreds of people attended a vigil held in her honor on Wednesday night. After the police were called to the incident, they reportedly raided the home where the dog was kept.
No arrests have been made during the investigation into the incident. Flowers have been left outside the house where the incident happened. According to the neighbours, Alice’s mother reportedly screamed in desperation as the dog attacked her child. They said the animal was purchased around six weeks ago.
According to one of the neighbours, the incident was a nightmare and they will never get over it. Rita Matthews, who lives next door, said she often saw the little girl with her mother as they walked to school. She said she heard screaming from the garden but she did not know what was happening.
Several police cars were called to the scene and told the residents to stay inside. According to one of the neighbours, an officer reportedly told them that the dog could cause someone to get hurt if it gets out. The animal, which was described as a large brown dog, was only seen inside the house. Michelle Kitchener, who lives next door, said Alice’s mother, Louise, is a single mother.
According to the mother, Louise would often drop her daughter off at school or nursery. At around 5 pm, she saw police cars driving down the street and a large number of officers outside the house. She said she had never heard or seen a dog barking in the area.
In an update on Wednesday, Superintendent Marc Tarbit of the local policing area for Milton Keynes stated that the police are supporting the girl’s family and friends following the incident. The incident has shocked the entire city. The police have remained at the scene to carry out their investigation and gather evidence.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the police. The investigation is at an early stage and the officers are also asking for the public’s help. The police noted that no one else was injured during the incident. They have not made any arrests and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The death of Alice came just hours after an inquest revealed that dog attack victim, 28-year-old Natasha Johnston, died due to multiple penetrating wounds to her neck. Hundreds of people attended a vigil for Alice on Wednesday night. The crowd held candles in the dark as they stood outside the church where the event was being held.
The music played during the vigil included songs such as “Over The Rainbow” and “Amazing Grace.” According to Donna Fuller, a community council member, the event was held to allow the people of the area to come together and support one another.
She said that the event was held to show the girl’s family that the community was thinking of them. She also said that the family needed time to process the incident. She added that the community could help them in the future by providing them with the necessary support.
In her speech, the community council member also asked the people to support the family and the other individuals affected by the incident. She said that the community felt a deep sadness about the incident.
