Rachel Corbett announced on The Project that she is taking time off to give birth.
She revealed her plans during the program, which ended with a staff member delivering flowers to her.
She joked that she doesn’t like fuss, and she admitted that it was strange to be leaving The Project.
She also said that she doesn’t know who she will be on the other side of this, as it is the biggest thing in her life.
The show will still continue, and she promised that she will be back in a couple of months.
“Get your head around it,” Sarah Harris said. Corbett admitted that she was not exactly sure what to expect when she became a mother.
She also said that she didn’t know how she would feel about her new role.
Rachel, you will be an amazing mother. There are a lot of people who will send you off with love and admiration.
We are so happy for you and look forward to welcoming you back. On a personal note, I am in awe of how you have handled this situation.
Rachel, you are an amazing human, and we love you so much.
During this time, she started to cry, and her colleagues then covered her in glitter and confetti.
She then shouted at her co-workers during the show, demanding that they go to an ad break.
The loss of Corbett is the fourth major loss for The Project in just a couple of months, following on from the departures of Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Helliar.
Bickmore also announced her departure in October. She had spent 13 years working on the desk.
