A 5-week-old baby girl named Mia was on the floor when two rottweilers attacked her at a family gathering in Moruya, NSW, on Saturday evening.
The child suffered severe facial and head injuries and died shortly after being taken to a hospital.
It’s believed that the incident happened at around 10:30 pm, as the girl was sitting close to her relatives at a party on Hawdon St.
They initially called an ambulance, but they decided to drive to the Moruya hospital after realizing they couldn’t wait.
NSW Ambulance confirmed that they had called an ambulance.
However, they decided to drive two minutes away to the hospital after realizing they didn’t have time to wait.
The baby girl, who was named Mia, died shortly after midnight.
The police were then called to the hospital at around 10.48 pm to investigate her death.
Rangers from the local council then seized the two rottweiler dogs from the house.
The owners of the animals, who are cousins, said they had been going inside and out of the house all evening without any problems prior to the incident.
