It has been reported that the local council had previously reported two rottweilers that attacked and killed a baby girl in Moruya, New South Wales.
The girl, named Mia, was five weeks old when she was attacked on Saturday night.
The little girl died despite the efforts of her family and the emergency services.
According to her neighbours, they informed the local council about the dangerous dogs because they were known to attack people.
One of the residents said that they warned the council about the animals because they were loud and intimidating.
The local council had reportedly visited the area several months ago and talked to the owners about the dangerous dogs.
However, according to one of the residents, the situation still remained the same. The council did not comment on the claims.
The two rottweilers were seized and will most likely be euthanized.
No charges have been made against the owners, and there are no signs of any wrongdoing by the family.
According to a friend of the family, the dogs were not provoked and attacked the baby in an out of nowhere manner.
The friend who knew the family said that the family did not appear distressed or agitated.
They described the horrific scene as they tried to save the baby girl.
The owners of the dogs, Tom and Laura Riley, were reportedly involved in a desperate battle to get them off the child.
On the South Coast Spine Care’s Facebook page, Mr Riley shared the news about the birth of his daughter.
He said that he planned to reduce his work hours to four days per week due to the new addition.
He also noted that the baby was safely delivered on Monday, January 11.
In the post, Mr Riley wrote that the baby and his mother were in good health.
He also posted three images of the family, which were presumably the first pictures of his daughter, Mia Jade.
In the post, Mr Riley noted that he would no longer be working on Fridays and would prefer to spend time with his family instead.
