An Indonesian man has been charged with murder after a Perth father died following a fight in Bali.
Troy Scott Johnston, from Perth, was found unresponsive at a local cafe in the early hours of Thursday.
His wife reportedly found him with severe head injuries.
The 40-year-old man was rushed to a hospital, but he later died. He was on holiday with his family.
The owner of the cafe, Gede Wijaya, was charged with murder. Wijaya claimed he did not intend to kill Johnston.
He said he tried to calm him down after he lost control during the fight.
In a statement to the police, Purnianti, Johnston’s wife, said that she did not intend to harm him.
According to the police, she last spoke with her husband at around 10:30 pm. At around 3.45 am, she went to look for her husband.
Upon reaching the Uncle Benz Cafe, Purnianti and her brother found Johnston lying on the terrace.
The police noted that Wijaya, who was 20 years old at the time of the incident, was drinking alcohol.
He claimed that Johnston was intoxicated when he threw objects on the street.
