A shopper has criticized the use of self-checkout machines at stores such as Kmart and Bunnings during busy peak hour period.
In a Facebook post, the author stated that the machines replace staff members and that she had written letters to the retailers, including Target, Woolworths, and Kmart.
In the letter, the author stated that a female staff member inspected the receipts of customers who used the self-checkout machine.
She claimed that the majority of the time, people only used the machines to pay for their purchases.
The last time she was in the area, she decided to leave without exiting the line because she didn’t want to participate in the nonsense.
“The last time I was there the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn’t choose to participate in that nonsense, so I just skipped the exit line and left.
The author said that she overheard the female staff member saying, “Excuse me,” as she walked away from the store.
She then voiced her concerns about the lack of compensation for customers who scan their own items instead of the staff members.
She demanded that the cashiers be reinstated.
