The Australian cricket team was deeply affected by the death of Pat Cummins’ mother, Maria, who succumbed to cancer.
She was diagnosed in 2005. Pat, who was currently in India with his family, flew back to be with his mother. His brothers Tim and Matt also accompanied him.

On Friday, Cricket Australia released a statement to confirm the tragic news. The team will be wearing black armbands to honor Maria.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Pat was in touch with his teammates and thanked them for their support.
Pat’s family lives in Mount Riverview, in Sydney’s Blue Mountains. His three brothers all play first-grade cricket for the local team, and his sisters are also talented on the court.
Pat has been vocal about his desire to fight for social justice, and his parents have been involved in various programs that help the homeless.
Maria had been in remission for a long time, and in 2018, Pat wrote about how it affected him when he was a young student.
He also praised his mother for her strength. The world paid tribute to her following her death.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese sent his condolences to Pat and his family. The country’s cricket team also paid tribute to Maria.
