Celebrity chef and judge of the TV program Masterchef, Mr. Zonfrillo, was reportedly diagnosed with bowel cancer for two years prior to his death.
According to the Daily Mail, he only told close friends about his condition and received treatment while he was filming. It is not suggested whether or not he died of the disease.
According to police, Zonfrillo was found dead in a Carlton hotel in the early hours of Monday.
A welfare check was carried out at the house, and the death was not considered suspicious.
A cause of death has not yet been announced, and a report will be submitted to the coroner.
It was reported that, since June 2021, Zonfrillo had been going through treatment for his bowel cancer.
He did not reveal his condition in his memoir Long Shot, which was released in 2021.
It has also been reported that he had decided to cut his family’s holiday short in Italy and return to Australia to shoot the upcoming season of MasterChef.
His wife, Lauren, and their two children, Isla, 2, and Alfie, 5, were staying in Rome.
Zonfrillo also has children from his previous marriages, namely Sophia and Ava.
