A young woman from Brisbane, who had reportedly planned on traveling the world, died suddenly during a family dinner at her parents’ home in Moreton Bay.
Dani Duchatel, 26, suffered a cardiac arrest while she was playing cards with her family on May 21.
While recovering from a broken leg injury, the government worker had been staying with her parents.
According to doctors, a blood clot might have formed following the operation, causing a pulmonary embolism.
Although her mother tried to perform CPR, she was not able to revive her.
On Tuesday, Mrs Duchatel posted a message on her Facebook page to inform her followers about the death of her daughter.
She asked for privacy as she and her family try to come to terms with the loss.
A crowdfunding page created by her friend Chantelle Lay has already raised over $15,000.
In her message, Ms Lay said that the family needed financial support to help them get through the difficult time.
She noted that the money would help them pay for the funeral.
In her tribute, Ms Duchatel described her daughter as a kind and loving person.
She also said that their time together had been some of her most amazing moments.
“Rest in peace, my sweet angel. I will see you again soon.”
